Recent Disappointing Products

Happy Makeup Monday!!!

Did y’all have a good weekend? My weekend was meh. It was cloudy/rainy the whole time, so I stayed indoors and slept for most of it. Also, tomorrow is the BIG day for us, Americans – it’s Election Day!!! Who do y’all think will win? So far, the presidential race has been an intense and close one. It’s quite stressful. Image result for sigh emoji

Anyways, today I wanted to share with y’all some disappointing products that I recently tried out and didn’t like. Since I did my monthly favorites in the last post, I felt like this was a good follow up. I used 3/4 or all of each product over the course of 2-3 months to give a fair evaluation. These products aren’t bad ones, but it just didn’t work out for me personally. So please, don’t get offended. Image result for praying emoji

Hair Care

Hask – Argan Oil Repairing Conditioner ($6)

I don’t think this product did anything for my hair. I expect a good conditioner to make my hair softer over time and after application, to make my hair instantly smooth so that I can comb through my hair while I’m washing it. I’ve used the Hask   Argan Oil Repairing Deep Conditioning Treatment. It comes in a packet and it works way better than this. I recommend buying the packets and using those.

Not Your Mother’s – Way To Grow Long & Strong Shampoo ($6)

This product claims to make hair “stronger, healthier and, in turn, longer”. I also didn’t see or feel any changes to my hair with this product. However, I didn’t pair this off with the conditioner counterpart so maybe, that was the key, but I don’t think I’m going to repurchase this regardless. Maybe I’ll try out the other line of products and see if I have any luck with those.

Revlon – ColorStay Shadowlinks

These were terrible. Upon swatching them, My first impression was that the pigmentation was quite good but a tad bit powdery. The shimmers had good potential to deliver more pigmentation if applied wet. However, when I applied these onto my eyes, all the colors blended away to nothing. You could barely see any of it and applying the shimmer shades wet didn’t help. I was really disappointed with these. I was hoping it would be a dupe for the Jouer Creme and Powder Eyeshadow singles. Those also link but have great pigmentation – definitely would choose these over the Revlon shadowlinks if you’re looking for this type of packaging concept.

Makeup Revolution – Rose Gold Lipstick in Private Members Club ($5)

I have two other MR Rose Gold lipsticks that I really like in the shades, Chaffuer and Red Carpet. However, this shade was really patchy and the pigmentation wasn’t as opaque as I would have liked. If your curious about this line of lipsticks, I’d definitely try out the two shades I mentioned previously or the newly released lipstick line called the Iconic Matte Nude lipsticks.

Clinique – Pop Lacquer Lip Colour & Primer ($18.50)

I don’t remember what shade I got this in, but it wasn’t the color or pigmentation of this product that I was extremely disappointed about. It was the formula – way too sticky and goopy. This product felt like glue on my lips. They were basically stuck together. I had to take it off after about an hour of wear. I even tried applying this on top of a regular lipstick, which actually made it thicker and worse. I really didn’t like this.

Wet n Wild – PhotoFocus Setting Spray ($5)

I can’t stand the smell of this setting spray. At first, it kind of smelled like Sprite soda but the more I smelled it, the more it started to smell like crap. My boyfriend couldn’t stand it and told me to take off my makeup. I thought I got a bad/expired product so I went to a different store and sprayed two other bottles of this same product. I got the same smell. Then I tried smelling the L’oreal and Maybelline setting sprays and they all had the same scent! So am I crazy? I don’t know. Maybe drugstore setting sprays have that scent, but one thing I do know is that the UD All nighter, Mac Fix +, and the MUFE Fix & Mist don’t have that scent. So I will be sticking to high end setting sprays until I can find a drug store alternative that doesn’t have that nasty scent.

Olay -Daily Facials Gentle Clean 4-in-1 Water Activated Cloths ($6)

Okay, I know the name of the product includes the term “water ativated”, but I didn’t know what that meant until after I opened it. I don’t like the concept of the water activation. I also don’t like that the cloths are so porous and rough. It makes me feel like it doesn’t remove my makeup or clean my face properly, which it didn’t. There was so much leftover makeup on my skin that I have to go in with a second cleanser or first use a makeup wipe. This product claims to cleanse, exfoliate, tone and hydrate. I think the only thing I got from this was slight exfoliation. I will never purchase this again.

So those are my recent disappointing products. I hope I didn’t offend anyone. Let me know in the comments below what are some of your recent disappointing products and if any of the ones I mentioned actually worked for you. Please don’t forget to vote tomorrow and I will ttyl~
