Happy Friday !!! The weekend is finally here!!! I haven’t seen my boyfriend in weeks and I finally get to see him!!! Today, I wanted to share with y’all what I got in my Ipsy October glam bag! I didn’t think I was going to do Ipsy posts because I felt like everyone basically gets the same products, BUT I read Cleia’s and Brooke’s Ipsy posts and I realized that I got different products. I haven’t used these products yet so this is just my first impressions of all the products. So without further ado, let’s get started!
What is Ipsy?
Ipsy is a beauty subscription service that was created by Michelle Phan. It delivers monthly glam bags that contain 5 beauty products catered to each subscriber’s preferences. Products can be full-sized or deluxe samples. You can pay monthly ($10) or yearly ($110). If you go with the $110 annual option, you’re only paying for 11 months and you get the 12th month free! Additionally, subscribers also have access to various Instagram giveaways, and Ipsy offers, which are great discounts on certain beauty products. Halloween 2016: Black Magic
This month’s Ipsy glam bag was Halloween themed and was done in collaboration with the artist Valfre. The theme, Black Magic, is about celebrating the amazing power of makeup that allow individuals to transform into different beings, creatures, and more.
Nude Stix – Concealer Pencil in Light 2 ($24, full-size)
This has a really creamy formula and it blended out well on the back of my hand. The shade is a little too pink for me to hide blemishes with, so this would be perfect for the undereyes to hide dark circles. I’ve never heard of this brand before but their website claims to be environment-friendly, vegan and cruelty-free.
Beaute Basics – Satin Taupe Eye Shadow ($7, full-size)
The eye shadow felt really velvety but I wasn’t very impressed by the pigmentation. I have Morphe’s 35T eye shadow palette, which contains a bunch of taupe shades. I think there’s a dupe for this shade in that palette. However, if you really like this shade, it might be a better deal to buy this individually than to purchase a full palette, but the Morphe palette has 35 shades for $23, which means each shade is $0.65 – that’s a steal compared to $7.
Lottie London – Perfectly Precise Eye Shadow Brush ($15, full-size)
I LOVE getting makeup brushes – you can never have too many! This brush feels really soft. It’s a flat eye shadow brush that would be perfect for packing on eye shadow. It didn’t shed when I tried to yank at it. *Thumbs up*
theBalm Cosmetics – Hot Mama Blush (sample)
The full-sized product is $21 for 0.25 oz, which means that this 0.02 oz sample is worth $1.68. I have never tried the Balm before, but I’ve heard so many great things about this brand. I was actually pretty excited to get this until I saw the size of the sample. I feel like it would be difficult to get an even application, but I do like this shade. It is a pinky-peach with some shimmer – not a big fan of shimmer. However, I’m going to stop being a negative Nancy and will still be trying this out.
The full-sized product is $16 for 38 oz, which means that this 0.16 oz sample is worth $0.07. I actually really like this product. I wear a lot of lip balm and I love how this has a really light-weight formula and the tropical scent isn’t overpowering but very subtle. The product claims to boost color of lipstick or gloss when used as a base but I haven’t tested this yet.
Overall, this month’s Ipsy bag seems eh. There’s definitely some things that I’m weary about but I will be testing these out more in depth.
Did you like your Ipsy bag this month? What products did you get?
I hope y’all have a great weekend and I’ll ttyl~
