Birthday Weekend and 1st Beauty Expo

Happy Makeup Monday! I hope y’all had an amazing weekend – I sure did! Saturday was my birthday and I spent a majority of the day doing beauty-related things and eating lots of sweets.

I went to the DFW Beauty Expo in downtown Dallas, TX. It was the first time I had ever been to a beauty event and it was so much fun! At the expo, there were free facials, free eyebrow and upper lip waxing, free hair styling and blow-outs, free manicures and free mini massages! On top of that, going to the expo was free too! It was a great first experience! There were about two dozen booths, some gave out samples and some had giveaways.

Have y’all heard of the blendSMART Automated Makeup Brush System? They had a booth and were demonstrating how the brush works. Expo attendees could go up and try the brush for themselves and then spin their giveaway wheel at the end. From the giveaway wheel, you could win a blendSMART Starter Kit, a giftcard to Sephora, or a pink drink tumbler. I didn’t win the starter kit but I did win a pink drink tumbler, which I ended up giving it to a friend. I actually saw two YouTube reviews on the blendSMART a while ago by GlamLifeGuru Tati and Casey Holmes (click on their names to see their review).

Another cool thing I saw at the expo was a booth for BeautyNow. BeautyNow is a free app sponsored by Groupon. It works similar to Uber/Lyft. If you want to get your nails done at 2PM, you select your options on the app and it will spit out a list of places that you could get it done at that time in the area of town/city you want it to be in. You can book your appointment and pay for it ahead of time! I gotta say, it’s a pretty neat app!

After the expo, I went and got a pedicure. No, the expo didn’t have free pedis, just manis (but, hey at least it was free!). The nail salon I went to was AMAZING – such great service and free wine & cold beverages! My sister also requested a movie which they put on the big flat screen in front of us. On top of that, my sister ruined her pedi within one minute of leaving the salon (we were just getting into the car) and had to go back in to get it touched up on 4 toes. They seriously had the best service and super nice and funny people. If y’all live in Dallas, I suggest going to it! It’s called M Spa & Beauty!

For sweets, I tried out Carlo’s Bake Shop (The Cake BOSS) and Sprinkles. I was slightly disappointed with Carlo’s Bake Shop. I tried out the strawberry cheesecake – the cream cheese was good but there wasn’t crust at the bottom which made me go like “WHAAT?!!? That’s the best part…”. I tried the mini cupcakes from Sprinkles and that was good! They have a cupcake ATM – 24/7 cake?! YES PLEASE!!!

So yea, I definitely had fun this weekend! If you haven’t gone to a beauty event before, I encourage you to go and try it out! I’ll also be sharing with y’all the different beauty/makeup products that I got as gifts for my birthday! I’m super excited to start using them all. Thank you to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday and to my friends and family who celebrated it with me! Thank you to my all subscribers/followers! I love y’all so much and can’t wait to talk to y’all next time! Have a splendid Monday!
