Review: Makeup Revolution

Good afternoon! I hope everyone is having a great Saturday! Today, I will be reviewing the Makeup Revolution (MR) products that I hauled a few weeks ago. Also, I noticed that I’ve been rambling alot recently, so for this review I will try to be as concise as possible. If y’all have any questions or comments, please leave’em below!

Mermaids Forever Eyeshadow Palette ($15) – 3.5/5 stars

I like this palette but I don’t love it. For the price of $15, I think this is a steal for 32 good creamy metallic shimmer eyeshadows. I like the huge range of colors because it allows the artist so much flexibility when creating looks. On the same note, there are no matte shades. When I first swatched some of the shades, it was pigmented and not patchy at all. But, when you put it on the eyes, some of the shades just fade out the more that you blend it. I suggest applying these wet with a shader brush, because it will be 100X more pigmented. The first column works well as a highlight. If it is applied to the inner corner, I suggest using your pinky finger and not a brush or you won’t see it. The second column and bottom corner of dark shades are okay – it lacks pigmentation. I haven’t used any of the other MR eyeshadow palettes, so I can’t say if all of them are equal in quality. Overall, I  think the star of the show here are the rich jewel shades in the four inner columns.

Ultra Bronze ($7) – 5/5 stars

I am in love with this bronzer. It blends out like a dream! It can get very pigmented, so start off with a light hand when applying. Also, I think the shade is very comparable to the Too Faced Chocolate (Med) Soleil Matte bronzer, but unlike the TF bronzer, this has a lot of fall out powder – I don’t really mind it but some people might. It also doesn’t smell like anything, so if you are love the Too Faced chocolate scent or the Physician Formula tropical scents, this doesn’t have that. However, some people who may be sensitive to scents, may appreciate this.

The Matte Blush ($5) – 5/5 Stars

I have the shade called Nude. Just like the bronzer, it blends out very well, very pigmented, scentless, and has the powdery fall out (but again, not complaining). Are they as good as the Milani blushes? I don’t think so. Are they more affordable? Yes. At 5 bucks a piece, these are a steal, especially if you get it when its BOGO 1/2 off at Ulta. On YouTube, GlamLifeGuru Tati was talking about these blushes during her Hot or Not series and she seemed to like them (click here to see that video).

Vivid Shimmer Brick ($7) – 5/5 Stars

OMG. This is amazing!!! So pigmented, so beautiful! Enough said. This is like the triplet sibling of the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick and the Physician Formula Shimmer Strips.

Rose Gold Lipstick ($5) – 4/5 Stars

I bought three different shades: Chauffeur, Red Carpet, and Private Members Club. These lipsticks feel really creamy on the lips and are very comfortable to wear. They have a slight vanilla/caramel scent to them, but you can’t smell it after you’ve applied it. The quality of the packaging is subpar compared to the other products I’ve tried. The rose gold is pretty, but the lightweight plastic tubing makes it feel cheap (despite it actually being cheap). I like it when my lipsticks have a weight to it, but that’s probably just me being weird. Anyways, I am absolutely obsessed with Chauffeur! It is my PERFECT nude! When I wear it, you literally cannot see that I have anything on my lips. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! Red Carpet swatches as a true red shade. In some light, it may seem like a bluer-red and in other, an orange-red. It has a slight shimmer to it, but you can’t tell unless you look super close. Lastly, Private Members Club was disappointing. I originally thought it was going to be a deep wine shade, but it is a dark grape purple. This shade is extremely patchy. I did not like this shade at all.

Lip Euphoria ($5) – 3/5 Stars

This product reminded me alot of the Nyx Cosmetics Intense Butter Gloss but not as good as those. It’s just a pigmented gloss – nothing extraordinary. There are six shades. The ones that I picked were pretty, but I didn’t like the doe foot applicator. It applies a very little amount of product. I had to dip the applicator back into the container 2 times after the original pull out. Some people probably won’t even notice this, but it was enough that I noticed it the first time I used it. There’s no scent to these, which is nice. But again, nothing special.

So that’s it! I hope this will help y’all pick out some good products from them if y’all haven’t tried Makeup Revolution yet. For those that have tried out this brand, if there are some bomb products that I missed, please let me know. Even if it isn’t Makeup Revolution, if y’all have any suggestions or requests, please feel free to let me know in the comments!

Talk to y’all soon!
