August Favorites

Hello and welcome to my beauty blog, Bossy & Beautiful! To start off my beauty blogging experience with a bang, I will be sharing with y’all my August favorites! I have been using these products all month and I absolutely love them!

1) Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance eyeshadow palette (Ulta, $42)

I LOVE THIS PALETTE! I have been using it on so many looks. When it first came out, the berry shades were calling my name – I swear it, but I didn’t want to impulsively buy the $42 eyeshadow palette before I read some reviews and did some research. After I saw how so many beauty Youtubers were raving about it during their May and June favorites, I finally decided to take the plunge and make my first ABH purchase. I bought two liquid lipsticks, Stripped and Dolce, the brow powder duo in Granite, and the Modern Renaissance palette. It definitely did not dissapoint! The shadows are super pigmented, creamy, and easy to blend out. Usually when a brush is included in an eyeshadow palette, it is absolute junk. However, the double-ended brush that came with this palette was also great. It blends out the shadows well and it’s a pretty good size. Overall, this is great palette for any occassion.

2) Milani baked blush in Berry Amore (CVS, $9.29)

Me and Milani go way back…well not really, but ever since I discovered and fell in love with the baked blush in Luminoso, I knew that when I picked this one up and I swatched it on the back of my hand, game over. It has a very soft texture and great buildability. As the name says, it has a pink berry color – almost like a mauvy pink in certain lighting. There are some gold/bronze swirls in it but it’s not actually chunky or glittery. It just gives the cheeks a nice iridescent glow. I definitely recommend Milani baked blushes to anyone who’s looking for a new blush.

3) Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer (Ulta, $14.99)

I’ve always used Too Faced bronzers and wanted to branch out of my cocoon and look for an affordable drugstore alternative. I looked it up and many people suggested this brand. PF has so many different bronzers. It took me quite some time to pick one out and I’m glad I chose this one. First of all, it smells fantastic (coconut cream scent). Second, it isn’t too warm or too cool toned – it’s actually very comparable to the TF Milk Chocolate Soleil. Third, it’s perfect for everyday because it’s matte. I literally have worn it 4 out 7 days a week the whole summer.

4) Eylure Luxe lashes in the styles Baroque and Opulent (Ulta, $9.99)

I have yet to buy super fancy, expensive $20 lashes, so I can’t compare it to high end falsies. BUT comparing it to drugstore lashes, I think these are the best. Both styles are so fluffy & soft and obviously, gives great length and volume. I even think it’s almost natural looking when compared to others. I think there is another style called Gilded and I definitely want to pick that one up if I see it at Ulta next time!

Colourpop Aquarius w/ Nyx Creme Brulee

5) Colourpop Cosmetics lip pencil in Aquarius topped (Colourpop, $5) with Nyx cosmetics Butter Gloss in Creme brulee (Ulta, $4.99)

This lip combo has been my Go-To all month long. It looks like a nude mauvy pink color. By itself, these products are great but together it is perfection. Nyx Creme brulee is a great lip topper. I almost always wear it on top of a lip liner or lipstick. It helps tone down the bolder shades. Colourpop’s lip pencil formula is the bomb dot com. I feel like it glides on so easily and it’s a super affordable brand. I have yet to find a lip liner that is as creamy as Colourpop’s. If y’all haven’t tried Colourpop products yet, go to their website now! They are having an awesome Labor Day Deal this weekend – you get to pick free matte liquid lipstick from their upcoming fall collection when you spend $10, $25, $40, or $50 AND they are also having an end-of-summer sale that is 20% off select items.

6) Pantene Moisture Mist Detangler (Walmart, $9.97)

It’s like a spray leave-in conditioner. Again, it smells great and it makes dry hair look revitalized, smooth and silky. I use it after every time I curl my hair and when I wake up in the mornings after I’d let my hair air dry. It doesn’t make my hair feel heavy at all or greasy looking. I have only tried one leave-in conditioner before and it was the Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Intensely Smooth Leave-In conditioner. I like to use the Garnier Fructis S&S when I have wet/damp hair. I’ll put some in my hands and scrunch it into my hair starting from my ends until the midway mark, almost like what you would do with a hair mousse. However, if my hair is dry or looks dead, I’ll use the Pantene MMD.

So yea, that’s it! Sorry if it was super long, but THANK YOU for reading until the end! Let me know what your August or summer favorites are so I can check it out!!! If y’all have any questions, please leave me a comment below! Also, if you don’t follow me on Instagram yet, please do! I’ll see y’all next time!

  1. That palette looks so versatile! I’ve been thinking about picking it up for a while but haven’t gotten around to it. I love that you’ve posted a bunch of different looks using the palette! 🙂

    1. Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the looks. I definitely think this palette is worth it! But you don’t have to rush it, ABH is keeping this palette permanently in stock.
